Steps for Girls Bridging to Juniors
April 7, 2009
6 Bridging Steps
Each step must be completed before the bridging ceremony in order to earn your "Bridge to Juniors Rainbow" bridge.
•1. Talk with a junior girl scout or a junior leader to learn about junior girl scouting. Find out what they do as juniors and what it will be like to join a junior troop. (Done at meeting on 4/1)
•2. Complete a junior Girl Scout online game. Go to http://www.girlscouts.org/ Click on: "go girls only". Then click on games. Click on my planet. Play the 4 games-map, water, sun and air. Write down and tell the troop what happens with the air quality, open space and energy use when you start filling the planet with more and more buildings and homes. (Needs to complete at home- write answers down and bring to meeting before 5/13)
•3. Write a letter to a junior "pen pal." (Needs to complete at home- Bring in ASAP so can be given to junior girls for reply)
•4. Create a poster or flyer to show troop what she learned from speaking with junior in #1 above. (Will do at an upcoming meeting)
•5. Attend camping weekend/overnight outing with a Girl Scout...

BROWNIE TROOP 570
APRIL NEWSLETTER
REMINDERS - Please check the snack schedule carefully to see when your child is due to bring snack. We have assigned the girls randomly and are trying to accommodate those who missed snack nights due to snow cancellations or sickness so that all girls can celebrate their birthday and so snacks have been distributed equally. Therefore, some may be bringing snacks relatively close together. We will be celebrating many Birthdays from now till the end of year and wouldn't want them to miss out on their Birthday night! Permission form and any family payment for The Discovery Center are due now! Girls are asked to bring a ROCK for a Fathers Day craft ASAP. The rock should be roughly 4x4 (or slightly bigger) and about 2 inches thick, preferably oval, if possible. (It needs to be able to accommodate foam lettering and some stickers.) As the weather is getting nicer (some days!), please remind the girls to wear appropriate shoes (NO Heeley's, no flip flops, open toed shoes or heels.) We may be running around outdoors, jumping, playing games and other things as weather gets better and do not want anyone getting hurt....

Cookie Goals
March 8, 2009
Our Troops Goals for Cookie Sales- Cookie Credit for Troop Field Trips The girls have been brainstorming since November with ideas as to what they would like to do with the proceeds the troop makes from the Annual GS Cookie Sale. It was a unanimous vote to spend the earnings on field trips. They threw out their many ideas for field trips they wished to take. After discussion, we narrowed the trips down to 3 trips. The 3 “Cookie Sales Field Trips” the girls decided on were Great Wolf Lodge, Knoebels Amusement Park and a bowling trip.
During one of our January meetings, by a majority Vote, the girls decided the top choice that they want the money to be spent on is an overnight trip to Great Wolf Lodge. They would also like to spend a day at Knoebels Amusement park and go bowling. We researched their trip choices for tentative prices and availabilities. By allowing the girls to plan, choose and decide their individual and troop “goals”, it encourages and helps them stay focused on the end results and motivates them to keep selling to reach their goals. They are very excited and...
